Piajoi Acoté u Jutira
Piajoi’s wife was Jutira:
(It’s said, when they sing about their relatives, it blesses them.)
I’m going to sing about Piajoi who a young woman made love to. It was probably Paré. (They claim I am a relative of Ichajúidé. But I’m hiding the words of my song from Piajoi.)
One of the women told her: “Abandon your husband. It’s wrong for a husband to have two wives.”
Another women told her: “Stay with your husband for it’s wrong for young girls to have many husbands.”
There was a young man who wanted to make love to Maria. He said to Manuelné: “Manuelné, tell Maria to be my wife.”
But Maria said to his wife: “Unéredaté, don’t scold me. I don’t want your husband.”
